Propecia is manufactured by Merck and is used to treat male pattern baldness by blocking the secretion of the hormones that contribute to hair loss. Slows or stops hair loss in almost 90% of men. Note: Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not use finasteride or handle the crushed or broken tablets. The 5mg tablets are used for prostate enlargement. I believe that my frequency of patient sexual side effects is approximately 1 per 200 patients on 3 tablets per week and even less frequent on 2 tablets per week. This is really a shame because there are plenty of scientific articles to suggest that's not the case and a Reuter's investigation reported that Merck found subjects with persistent sexual side effects in the original clinical trials yet they obfuscated this information with misleading language in the product label so that the FDA, patients, and doctors wouldn't notice.
